ProBasketballDocs: Rudy Gobert Unlikely To Play Against Mavericks Because of Calf Soreness

Rudy Gobert, the Utah Jazz center, is listed as questionable for Monday's contest against the Mavericks with left calf soreness.

The ProBasketballDocs project the big man will miss the contest for several reasons.

Firstly, calf issues linger and Gobert already missed 9 games in February with the same calf problem.

Although it is a crucial matchup against the fifth-place Mavericks, the Jazz are five games clear of the top play-in spot, currently the Timberwolves.

Gobert also played 34 minutes Sunday night against the Thunder and Utah has no reason to risk further injury to the big man during an important stretch of the season.

Hassan Whiteside will likely get the start in place of Gobert.

Whiteside has averaged 8.4 points and 7.7 rebounds in 18 minutes this season.

The Mavericks are 2.5-point favorites at home and the over/under is 216.5, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

Update: Rudy Gobert will suit up against the Mavericks and contributed 12 points on just 5 shot attempts while grabbing 13 rebounds. He was asked to do little on offense Monday and over time the issue should get better.
