ProFootballDoc: Eric Weddle Suffers Torn Right Pectoral

Eric Weddle, the Rams 37-year-old strong safety, appeared to suffer a severe right arm/shoulder injury in the second quarter of Super Bowl LVI.

By video, ProFootballDoc, Dr. David Chao, said Weddle suffered a torn right pectoral tendon while making a tackle on an incomplete pass to Joe Mixon.

Weddle dove low with his right arm outstretched and came up holding his upper chest/right shoulder.

The veteran safety was fitted with a harness on the sideline after the series, likely to immobilize the muscle and limit the use of his right arm.

With the right arm injured Weddle will have trouble wrapping up with his right arm on tackles, Chao said. Weddle has remained in the game, but was not using his right arm on several defensive plays.

Nick Scott would likely replace Weddle if he is unable to continue.

Update

Weddle finished the game, but told a reporter after that he believes he suffered a torn pectoral. He said he wasn't going to leave the game and has plenty of time to recover in the offseason.

That fit Chao's in-game analysis for the injury.
