Technically Cam Newton is not a free agent but we feel he is worth discussing here giving his uncertain status as to where he might play and his health issues that have surrounded him in recent years. Currently, he is under contract to the Panthers but new ownership and new coaches have not committed to him long-term. Given that he has not recovered yet from his December 2019 Lisfranc foot surgery, Newton has not been cut by the Panthers and it would be difficult to trade him. I anticipate that he will be healthy enough work out and pass a physical in two to three months. Newton has had two consecutive shoulder surgeries on his throwing side in 2018 and 2019. His health will have a major impact on the decisions being made and where he ends up playing. Newton will be healthy for the 2020 season but when he is will the music have stopped by then in the game of Quarterback musical chairs and what spots might be open?
