The Cowboys quarterback has been in negotiations for contract extension but has likely been franchise tagged. In-season injury issues for Prescott should not play into his negotiations. He had an index finger injury on his passing hand as well as a rotator cuff contusion on his throwing shoulder which led to a poor Week 16 performance against the Philadelphia Eagles that ultimately resulting in a loss and the Cowboys missing the playoffs. Both these issues should be behind him and Dallas' ultimate decision will be based on player evaluation not health. Prescott has unofficially been franchise tagged by the Dallas Cowboys.
