Raptors' OG Anunoby Suffers Fractured Finger, Likely To Return Before Season End

OG Anunoby, the Raptors' fourth-year small forward, reportedly suffered a fractured right ring finger and will miss at least Friday night's game against the Charlotte Hornets.

Details are sparse about the type of fracture, but the 23-year-old reportedly practiced on Wednesday and Thursday.

The ProBasketballDocs project that no matter the type of fracture, Anunoby should be able to return before the end of the season, barring any complications.

If he has a significant fracture requiring surgery, his recovery timeline would be in the four-to-six week range. With just under two months left in the season, that should allow him time to return before a potential Raptors playoff run.

At 32-25, the Raptors currently sit in seventh place in the East and are 5 games clear of the 10th place Atlanta Hawks.

The best case scenario would be a "chip" fracture that he is able to practice with, but not play with yet a full game speed.

If that is the case, Anunoby should be able to return with his fingers taped after missing a few games.

The Raptors last game before the All-Star Break was February 16 against the Timberwolves.

Anunoby had 10 points on 4-11 shooting with 1 rebound, 1 assist and 3 turnovers in the win. He played 29 minutes and shot "garbage time" free throws in the closing seconds, suggesting the Raptors were not playing it cautious with him at that point.

The Indiana alum is averaging 17.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.5 steals in 36.7 minutes per game. He's shooting 43.6% from the field and 35.1% from three-point range.

Rookie power forward Scottie Barnes and fourth-year power forward Chris Boucher will likely see an increase in minutes with Anunoby out.

The ProBasketballDocs will provide a more concrete timeline for Anunoby's recovery as more details about the fracture are revealed.
