Red Sox Injury Report: Rafael Devers Suffered Low-Back Injury, Out Of Lineup Saturday

Red Sox all-star third baseman Rafael Devers will miss Saturday's primetime contest vs the Yankees after aggravating a lower back injury on Friday.

Rafael Devers Injury Update

Boston manager Alex Cora said after the game that Devers tweaked his back chasing after a foul ball and will be considered day-to-day.

The 25-year-old missed two games this week with a sore back and returned on Thursday to the tune of two home runs and five RBI.

Devers suffered the apparent back injury when he ran into the waist-high New York dugout railing in the top of the first inning.

He continued to grimace and fuss with his lower back before he was pulled in the top of the fifth inning, going 0-3 with two strikeouts on some massive swings.

Earlier in the night Devers was named the AL all-star starting third baseman after posting a .327 batting average and .977 OPS with 19 bombs, 27 doubles, 51 RBI, and 59 runs through 80 games this year.
