Reds' Infielder Jonathan India Leaves Game With Right Hamstring Injury

Reds' starting second baseman and 2021 NL Rookie of The Year Jonathan India left Wednesday night's loss to the Dodgers with an apparent right hamstring injury.

India appeared to suffer the strain running out an infield single in the top of the 5th inning.

After reaching first the 25-year-old grabbed at the back of his lower right thigh before walking into the dugout with the Cincinnati training staff. The Reds have listed him as day-to-day as he likely awaits further tests.

India was a mainstay for the Reds in 2021, carrying an .835 OPS and notching 21 home runs and 98 runs scored.

Fans and teammates were impressed by India's toughness and longevity in his rookie season as he led the major with 23 HBPs and played in 150 of 162 games.

Veteran utility man Brandon Drury replaced him in the lineup with Donovan Solano still on the IL with his own hamstring strain.

India rose his average to .231 with 2 hits tonight from the leadoff spot. He's scored 3 runs and driven in 2 more in 7 games this season.
