While the days of the 12th man impacting games on the field are over, at least until stadiums are back at full capacity there are new advantages to playing at home. Now that the NFL is requiring two days of negative tests for players with illnesses, being the home team gives players an extra day to get healthy. A player with flu-like symptoms cannot board the team plane when they travel, and home teams will not have to face these dilemmas.
