Richie James, the 49ers wide receiver and kick returner, is having knee surgery and said to be out at least six weeks. Apparently it's a knee arthroscopy with it likely being a meniscus surgery. The hope and expectation is that the type of surgery is more of a trim than a sewing. If so, James can return after the initial six weeks out and contribute for San Fransisco in the second half of the season.
