Rob Gronkowski, the veteran Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end, reportedly suffered four cracked ribs, one broken rib and a punctured lung in Week 3. Gronkowski took a blind hit to his lower right ribs from Rams linebacker Terrell Lewis in the third quarter of the loss. The 32-year-old went to the sideline after the hit, then returned to the game late in the third quarter. By video, we thought there was a high chance of broken ribs when he took the hit. The extent of the damage to his ribs calls into question whether he should have returned to the Week 3 game. If he did suffer a punctured lung, it would likely mean an IR stint. Gronkowski's status for Week 5 is in doubt and we would not rule out the Buccaneers tight end going on IR.
