Celtics' starting center Robert Williams III will not travel to Toronto for tomorrow's matchup with the Raptors after suffering a left knee sprain in the 3rd quarter on Sunday.
Williams was ruled out for the game after leaving with 2:46 left in the 3rd quarter. He was limping and visibly limited by the pain, which head coach Ime Udoka said after the contest was "quite a bit," but that they are unsure how exactly he suffered the sprain.
The 24-year-old missed 3 games this season with left knee tendinopathy back in November, a condition he has suffered dating back to his college years related to an artery condition in his legs. He will undergo tests tomorrow to qualify the severity of the sprain.
In his career, Williams had never played over 52 games in a season coming into 2021-22, but has played in 61 games while averaging 9.9 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks on 73.4% shooting.
His consistency on the defensive side of the floor is one of the many reasons why Boston has surged to the No. 1 seed in the East, posting a 29-7 record since Jan. 8 and an 11-1 mark in March.
