The Carolina Panthers are having a horrible Thursday night health-wise. With just over 11 minutes left in the third quarter, rookie cornerback Jaycee Horn suffered a non-contact right leg injury while in coverage. Horn was helped off the field by trainers and was unable to put pressure on his right leg. The eighth overall pick was then carted to the locker room. By initial video viewed on cellphone, Horn appeared to ruptured his right Achilles tendon. Upon further review of the footage on a laptop, the worry is more for multiple metatarsal fractures in his right foot. He will have surgery and likely be done for the season. In the second quarter, the Panthers lost star running back Christian McCaffrey to a left hamstring strain. McCaffrey was ruled out of the game and his status for Week 4 against the Cowboys is unclear.
Update
The Panthers announced Horn has been ruled out with a foot injury.
Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports that Horn suffered a broken foot. This would certainly be better than an Achilles tendon rupture, but he is out indefinitely.
