The Bears second round draft pick is headed for back surgery and the team hopes the offensive lineman can return at some point this season. The Oklahoma State product has had back problems stemming back to college. Head coach Matt Nagy says the symptoms were different, and ultimately required surgery. Offensive linemen are specifically checked for lower back issues heading into the NFL Draft as injuries like this are common. At this point, it is likely Jenkins is dealing with a herniated disc that was pressing on a nerve that needed relief. It is a fairly routine surgery and recovery depends on the rehab, but expect Jenkins to be placed on IR.  He will be placed on IR after the initial 53 rosters are announced to allow him to return later this season. The earliest return would be at the midway of the season but his return could be later as they will likely wait till he is 100%.
