Saints' Alvin Kamara Misses Practice Wednesday With Mild MCL Sprain

Alvin Kamara, the Saints star running back, appears to have injured his left knee early in the second half of the Saints 27-25 loss to the Falcons. We reviewed all the plays from the game and in the third quarter it appears a defender landed on his left leg, which could have caused either an MCL sprain or mild high ankle sprain. Upon first look, we thought he had a mild high ankle sprain. However, he missed Wednesday's practice and was listed with a knee injury, indicating it is an MCL sprain.

At this point, it remains to be seen what Kamara status is, but based on the way that he ran and played he seems to be someone who would be available as an option for the Saints this Sunday against the Titans. Against the Falcons he was effective, especially in the open field passing game. He maintained excellent straight ahead speed, but perhaps was less decisive in his cuts, which would be consistent with the mild left knee MCL sprain. There have been rumors that Kamara has been banged up, and indeed the saints brought in some running backs and signed Josh Adam to their practice squad. But it would seem that Mark Ingram's role would increase and the other roster moves were more as a precaution.
