Saints QB Jameis Winston Out For Season With Torn ACL, Damage To MCL

Jameis Winston, the Saints starting quarterback, reportedly suffered a torn ACL in his left knee and will miss the remainder of the season. The former Buccaneers quarterback was injured in the second quarter when Tampa Bay linebacker Devin White grabbed his jersey from behind and he stepped awkwardly on his left leg. White was penalized on the play for a "horsecollar tackle." Winston attempted to walk off the field, then went to the ground and was helped off before being carted to the locker room.

By video, we believed the Saints quarterback had a high ankle sprain with possible damage to his MCL as well. Winston underwent an MRI after the game, which reportedly revealed an ACL tear and damage to his MCL as well. The 27-year-old will miss the rest of the season and sixth-year quarterback Trevor Siemian will fill in until Taysom Hill is healthy. Hill suffered a concussion Week 5 and has not practiced since.
