After Monday night’s loss, Darnold was back at the Jets facility. This does not mean he has recovered from mono and is ready to play. It does mean the contagious phase of his illness has passed. His spleen/liver needs to be monitored because if enlarged, as it typically can be with mono, there is risk of internal damage when playing a contact sport like football. This is why I think he will still miss the rest of September even though the Jets are on to their third string quarterback. Hopefully this bodes well for an earlier return in October.
