Sam Darnold has been ruled out for Week five. After an ultrasound, he was ruled out due to an enlarged spleen. His spleen was enlarged on Monday and likely wasn't going to shrink to near normal size by today. He’s feeling good and cleared for non-contact practice. Expect him to keep practicing next week, but his playing status will likely come down to next Friday’s ultrasound. His spleen is holding him back, because of the risk of rupture or laceration. Currently, there’s no guarantee he will play Week six. His spleen must return to normal size before he’s cleared for contact.
