The Jets have ruled out IR for Darnold, which is good news but that doesnt me he will be back anytime soon. He will at least miss all of September, which was stated earlier in the subscription updates. Head coach Adam Gase all but admitted he would miss Week 3 as well. The Jets have a bye Week 4, thus the earliest return is October. The worry is he can’t return to play with an enlarged spleen or liver without risk of internal organ damage on a hit. Even when that hurdle is crossed, energy levels and weight loss are a concern. We know people from our school days who have missed 3-4 weeks from mono. Playing NFL football is much more difficult than attending class, which is why I still expect a minimum 4-6 week absence for Darnold.
