San Francisco Without Both Starting Safeties Against New England

Heading into Foxboro, San Francisco will be without both of their starting safeties. Strong safety Jaquiski Tartt and free safety Jimmie Ward were officially ruled out for Sunday's game. Tartt has been dealing with a groin injury and did not practice all week, but Ward was a full participant in practice Wednesday and Thursday and was not listed on the injury report until today. It’s being reported Ward strained his quadriceps in Thursday's practice and head coach Kyle Shanahan called it “a grade 1 or 1.5 strain.” This means he could miss more time, but hopefully the 49ers get healthier as the season moves along.
