Seahawks starting strong side linebacker Darrell Taylor appeared to injure his neck late in the fourth quarter and was carted to the locker room on a spine board. By limited video angles, we hope/expect that the board and cart are all precautionary. He was hit from behind as he made a tackle and his neck jammed into the torso of fellow defender Al Woods. Taylor remained down on the field, but was seen talking to medical staff and moving his extremities as he was carted off, which is a good sign.
He was carted to the locker room and will undergo further observation, including X-rays at the stadium. If the medical staff has any additional worry of reticular symptoms, including neck pain or a "zinging" sensation into his arms and legs, he will be taken to a hospital. If there are questions on his X-ray he will also be taken to a hospital for an MRI. We hope for a speedy recover for Taylor, who missed his entire rookie season last year while recovering from a leg surgery.
Update
The 24-year-old was reportedly placed in an ambulance and taken to University of Pittsburgh Medical Center for further evaluation. After the game, head coach Pete Carroll told reporters that Taylor's CT scans were "clear" and the team got a "really good preliminary report" on the linebacker.
