Lost in Steve Nash's statement that Ben Simmons will miss the Nets' final regular season games was his update on sharpshooter Seth Curry, who is likely to miss the final 3 games of the season as well with a lingering left ankle issue.
Curry, who is missing tonight's game against the Rockets, had dealt with soreness since suffering the sprain on March 10 and said recently that he he will not be able to heal the ankle without an extended rehab period. While he will not be able to fully heal until the offseason, he could get up to 12 days of rest and recovery if he sits until the play-in tournament that begins on April 12.
Curry has missed 6 total games with the issue, including 3 straight after the initial sprain and 1 game on March 23 after leaving the previous contest with soreness.
Before the injury, the 31-year-old was a needed floor-spacer in the absence of Joe Harris, averaging 15.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.2 assists on 48.5% shooting and 45.2% shooting on 6.6 threes a game.
Harris has not played since suffering his own ankle injury on Nov. 14 and was shut down in early March before undergoing a second surgery to repair the issue.
Veteran Patty Milles and rookies Cam Thomas and Kessler Edwards will be tasked with providing secondary scoring for Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
Mills has struggled in the 2nd half of the season, averaging 5.8 points on 30.6% shooting in 19 games since the all-star break while scoring in double-figures only 5 times with a high of 15 points.
