Shaq Thompson, the Panthers pass rusher, missed practice Wednesday with a right foot injury he suffered in Sunday's loss to the Cowboys. Thompson said Wednesday that he strained his plantar fascia. Based on video of the injury, that would fit our assessment. He did return to the game, like we expected, with tape. Thompson not practicing Wednesday does not rule him out for Sunday against the Eagles. Plantar fascia can be treated with arch support and/or tape, and sometimes even a gameday injection. Although the injury is painful, can linger and will affect practice time, it leaves open the possibility of Thompson playing this week.
