Per Ian Rapoport, 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman has been placed on injured reserve. Keep in mind, this should be a short-term situation with the new injured reserve rules that allow just a three week stint at minimum. The only details available at this point are that he’s dealing with a calf issue, and it may be a flare-up of an old injury. Without Ahkello Witherspoon in concussion protocol, and Jason Verrett sidelined with a hamstring, the Niners have just three healthy corners on the roster.
