Angels' two-way superstar Shoehei Ohtani missed his final at-bat of the night with right groin tightness.
Ohtani, who was Los Angeles' DH today, told reporters through his interpreter that he is hoping to be back in the lineup for tomorrow's game against the White Sox and his removal was for safety measures.
The 27-year-old appeared to feel the tightness while he was running out a groundball in the seventh inning. About halfway down the line he slowed up and jogged into first base.
Ohtani is batting .228 with four home runs and 12 RBI this season and has a 4.19 ERA with 30 strikeouts over 19.1 IP.
Ohtani is set to start either Wednesday or Thursday after ace Noah Syndegaard, but Joe Maddon said he hasn't decided whether he will make his next start or not.
