SIC Analysis: Cardinals Have Injury Edge Despite Losses At Key Positions

Injury Advantage: Cardinals Rush Defense

Despite an overall healthy SIC score, Indianapolis will be down three offensive linemen against Arizona on Christmas.

All-pro left guard Quenton Nelson and 7-year veteran right guard Mark Glowinski will miss the game on the COVID reserve list, while three-time Pro Bowl center Ryan Kelly will miss his third straight game for personal reasons.

While this could limit the effectiveness of second-year back Jonathan Taylor, we don’t expect the Colts to shy away from running the ball.

Taylor has 1,518 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns this season as the focal point of the Colts’ offense.

The Cardinals are down key pass rusher J.J. Watt and No 2. cornerback Robert Alford, potentially providing quarterback Carson Wentz a chance for more completions to top receivers Michael Pittman Jr. and T.Y. Hilton.

Regardless of the slight injury advantage, the Cardinals have given up the fifth-least passing yards in the league, while the Colts are 23rd in passing yards gained this season.
