Through SIC picks, our staff recommended taking the Lions at -5.5 earlier in the week. We like them even more at -4.5 given their health advantage on both ends of the ball.
The biggest key is Detroit’s 91.5 offensive score compared to Seattle’s 77.6 score on defense.
Seattle’s main issue this week will be the absence of their book end tackles on the offensive line.
LT Charles Cross is dealing with a turf toe injury, while RT Abe Lucas is on IR after undergoing a knee procedure.
Veteran RT Jason Peters may have to fill in during his first week with the team.
Jaxon Smith-NJigba is also not 100% from his preseason wrist fracture. He finished with 3 catches for 13 yards last week against the Rams.
On defense, rookie Devon Witherspoon will make his debut after missing Week 1 with a hamstring strain. Jordyn Brooks continues his recovery from his ACL tear last season, while strong safety Jamal Adams is unlikely to play this week while attempting to return from quad tendon tear.
LT Taylor Decker is out Week 2 with a left high ankle sprain that may keep him out Week 3 as well.
The only other absence on offense is WR2 Jameson Williams, who is suspended six games for gambling.
On the other side of the ball, Emmanuel Moseley will miss his second straight contest while recovering from his ACL tear from Oct. 9 last season.
