Injury Advantage: Titans Run Offense
Derrick Henry, the imposing Titans running back, will make his much awaited return against a Bengals defensive front that is down a key run stopper.
Defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi suffered a season-ending foot injury in the win over the Raiders last Saturday, leaving fourth-year pro B.J. Hill to fill in.
Ogunjobi had 49 combined tackles and 12 tackles for a loss this season, while Hill finished with 50 combined tackles and 6 tackles for a loss.
Henry’s return to play is certainly good news for the Titans, he still isn’t 100% and D’Onta Foreman will likely get a fair share of carries.
Foreman played in nine games with Henry out this season, finishing second on the team with 566 yards and three touchdowns.
In eight games this year, Henry had 937 rushing yards – ranking ninth in the league – and 10 touchdowns – good enough for sixth in the league.
Tennessee ranked third this season in rushing touchdowns.
Although Henry does not yet have full use of his right foot, he will still be effective in short-yardage situations because of his hulking frame.
The Bengals do have key edge rusher Trey Hendrickson back after passing concussion protocol. Hendrickson led the team with 14 sacks this season and 27 quarterback hits.
He will likely match up against Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan, who tore the ACL in his right knee in 2020. Lewan had a slow start to the year, but allowed just four sacks all season.
