SIC Roundup: Saquon Barkley Out Multiple Weeks

Saquon Barkley - SIC score 41

By video, suffered a right high ankle sprain when he was landed on in a pile in the fourth quarter. Given the short turnaround, the Pro Football Docs expect him to miss the Thursday Night Football matchup against the 49ers, leaving Matt Breida in line to start.

Now confirmed, as Barkley will reportedly miss two to three weeks with an “ordinary” sprain.

Barkley missed time two seasons ago with left ankle issues. The 2020 ACL tear was on his right side.

Garrett Wilson - SIC score 93

Fortunately, our analysis has been confirmed and Wilson just had the wind knocked out of him late in the game.

He is unlikely to miss time ahead of next week’s matchup with the Jets.

Wilson finished with 2 catches for 83 yards and a touchdown on 8 targets.

Joe Burrow - SIC score 82

Tweaked his right calf after throwing a touchdown pass to Tee Higgins in the fourth quarter of the 27-24 loss to the Ravens. After the game, Zac Taylor said Burrow is “day-to-day” and his calf was “pretty sore.”

Calf injuries notoriously linger and this reaggravation doesn’t bode well for Burrow’s effectiveness in Week 3. The Pro Football Docs believe he will play against the Rams, but will not have 100% mobility.

Odell Beckham Jr. - SIC score 69

Aggravated a previous right ankle injury on a catch in the first quarter and did not return to the game. He finished with 3 catches for 29 yards on 4 targets and his ankle issue is likely to linger into Week 3 against the Colts.

Beckham has looked decent in his return from the left knee ACL injury in February 2021, but this ankle problem is disconcerting for fantasy owners.

Travis Kelce - SIC score 76

Had limited effectiveness and did not play his full snaps against the Jaguars. Finished with 4 catches for 26 yards and a touchdown on 9 targets.

Unfortunately for fantasy owners, his knee health is not likely to improve much ahead of next week’s matchup against the Bears.

He did have his knee landed on late in the win, but did not appear to reaggravate the bone bruise.

Anthony Richardson - SIC score 30

After two early rushing touchdowns, Richardson suffered a concussion when he slammed the back of his head on the turf.

He finished the next drive, then was taken off for a concussion evaluation and did not return to the game.

Richardson will have to clear several hurdles to get cleared before a W3 matchup on the road against the Ravens. If he’s not available, Gardner Minshew will be under center for Indianapolis.

Davante Adams - SIC score 50

In concussion protocol after taking a helmet-to-helmet hit in the fourth quarter blowout loss against the Bills. The Raiders lost Jakobi Meyers to a concussion late in the Week 1 game and he missed Week 2.

If Adams can’t clear concussion protocol, he will miss the Sunday night game against the Steelers in Week 3.

David Montgomery - SIC score 87

Did not return after taking a hit to the thigh late in the third quarter. By video, the issue does not appear serious and he’s unlikely to be affected in Week 3 against the Falcons.

DK Metcalf - SIC score 89

Took a hard hit to the ribs on his first catch, but was able to return and finished with 6 catches for 75 yards on 6 targets.

Metcalf may have lingering soreness in practice this week, but he can take a numbing injection next week if the issue is still bothering him ahead of the matchup against the Panthers.

Brandon Aiyuk - SIC score 84

By video, Aiyuk suffered a left shoulder AC joint sprain on his first catch of the game. He left after his second catch but was able to return to the game.

He missed some time early on in drives the rest of the game, but finished with 3 catches for 43 yards on 6 targets.

After the initial injury, Aiyuk caught 1 of his 3 targets for 18 yards.

Zay Jones - SIC score 83

Jones suffered a mild right knee PCL injury on an incompletion in the second quarter, but he was able to return to the game.

He will likely be limited in practice early in the week, but is likely to play W3 against the Texans.

The former Raider was held without a catch on 6 targets against the Chiefs.
