Steph Curry Resting Thursday, Will Return Sunday From Minor Thigh Contusion

Warriors superstar Stephen Curry is out tonight versus the Pelicans after suffering a left thigh contusion Wednesday, but the absence will not be extended, our team of ProBasketballDocs say.

Based on video, the injury doesn't appear serious, and this missed game is a much-deserved rest on the 2nd half of a back-to-back to help with overall fatigue and prepare him for the expected Sunday debut for Klay Thompson.

Curry has had a heavy last month-plus while he chased Ray Allen's all-time 3-point shooting record and awaited Thompson's much-anticipated return from nearly 1000 days away from the court.

Curry suffered the apparent thigh contusion with 9:46 left in the 3rd quarter in the middle of another tough shooting performance for the 2-time MVP, finishing the contest.

Since Nov. 30, Curry is scoring 24.6 ppg on 36.7% from the field and 34.7% from behind the arc over 16 games. Smaller sample size, but in the last 5 games, he is scoring 21.4 ppg on 31.4/29.6/86.2 splits.

Despite the slump, Golden State is still 29-8 this season, and 11-6 since Nov. 30.

He suffered a similar injury in Nov. 2017, and he only missed 1 game, returning with no lingering effects.
