Injury Advantage: Chargers Offense
A COVID-19 outbreak has Houston down 17 players on the COVID reserve list, including 10 starters on defense.
The Texans will be starting an entirely new defensive line and a backup linebacking crew in Week 16.
This dropped their SIC health score to the lowest of any team this season, with a dismal 36.8 on defense.
Expect the Chargers to take charge on offense all game, despite being down Austin Ekeler and Mike Williams due to COVID-19 as well.
Justin Herbert is due for a big game passing and should have no trouble connecting with Keenan Allen and Jared Cook.
Justin Jackson and Joshua Kelley will handle the reps on the ground.
Secondary Advantage: Chargers Defense
Despite losing Joey Bosa and Justin Jones to the COVID reserve list, Los Angeles still has the upper hand healthwise.
Houston is down its entire starting offensive line, plus star receiver Brandin Cooks.
Running back David Johnson is also dealing with a quadriceps issue and is questionable to play.
Davis Mills does have wide receivers Nico Collins, Chris Conley and Danny Amendola healthy, but we don’t expect that pairing to generate much against the Chargers defense.
