Both the Raptors and Timberwolves could each be without a starter for Wednesday night's matchup in Minnesota.
First-time All-Star Fred VanVleet was listed as questionable with left knee soreness and second-year guard Anthony Edwards was listed as questionable with a right ankle sprain he suffered Tuesday night.
Injury Advantage: Raptors
The ProBasketballDocs project VanVleet will play, but Edwards will miss the game.
VanVleet has missed just six games this season. The most recent was last Thursday on the back end of a back-to-back.
He played 31 minutes in the blowout loss to the Pelicans Monday and should be ready for full usage against the Timberwolves tonight.
Second-year guard Malachi Flynn would likely see increased minutes on the off-chance VanVleet misses the game.
The 27-year-old has averaged 21.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 7 assists in 50 games this season. He's shooting 41.9% from the field and 40.1% from three.
Edwards suffered his right ankle sprain in the first half of Tuesday's win over the Hornets. He was ruled out of the second half and the ProBasketballDocs don't expect him to play Wednesday.
Second-year forward Jaden McDaniels will likely start in Edwards place if he's inactive.
McDaniels had 16 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals in the second half and overtime after Edwards was ruled out.
D'Angelo Russell and Karl-Anthony Towns would also likely get more shot opportunities with Edwards out. The 20-year-old has averaged 18.2 shots a game this season and 8.7 shoots from three-point range.
Towns played 42 minutes in Tuesday night's overtime win, finishing with 39 points, 15 rebounds and 3 assists.
Russell played 37 minutes and finished with 18 points, 11 assists and 4 rebounds.
The Raptors are 2-point favorites on the road in Minnesota, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
