Trae Young Injury Update
The Atlanta Hawks received disheartening news as All-Star guard Trae Young is set to be sidelined for a minimum of four weeks due to a left pinky ligament tear, as announced by the team today. According to the Pro Basketball Docs at Sports Injury Central the expected timeline for a return will be approximately six weeks.
What is Trae Young's injury?
Young underwent an MRI on Saturday that revealed a tear of the radial collateral ligament in his fifth finger of his left hand.

All-Star Performer
Prior to the setback, Young's outstanding performance this season earned him a spot in his third All-Star Game.
This season Young has been averaging an impressive 26.4 points and 10.8 assists over 51 games, his absence is a significant blow to the Hawks.
Impact on Hawks' Playoffs Aspirations
Young's initial anticipated return according to the team will be in April, just before the postseason, which poses a challenge for the Hawks, currently holding the 10th spot in the Eastern Conference at 24-32. The team is determined to secure a position in the Play-In Tournament but faces an uphill battle without their star point guard.
Based on the six week timeline we expect at Sports Injury Central, Young will be unlikely to return this season unless the Hawks can make the playoffs or Play-In tournament. According to FanDuel sportsbook the Hawks are +470 to make the playoffs.
Who will replace Trae Young?
Dejounte Murray steps up for the Hawks in Young's absence, but the team acknowledges the irreplaceable void left by their offensive leader.
Next Challenge
The Hawks, striving to break a three-game losing streak, face the Orlando Magic tonight, adding complexity as Orlando plays on the second night of a back-to-back.
