Normally this is outside the lines of profootballdoc.com but this does relate to injury and player health. Allegedly, doctors handled his scalp injury wrong in the offseason which lead to his hold out and disgruntled nature towards the team. Importantly, the issue of injury takes center stage going forward. Trent Williams will not practice today and did not pass his physical after returning to the Redskins facility today. Will this become a “Jalen Ramsey” like situation? After all, it is common to end up with soft tissue injuries or soreness upon first reporting back for football. Usually players work their way through them but in Williams case, if his hamstring is tight for example, he could use this as an excuse to sit. I do not know the mindset of Williams or his agent and I am not trying to jinx Williams into an acclimation injury. The question is how long till he can pass a physical and will he even play after doing so. I am not saying that Ramsey was faking a back injury, but it certainly seems like he wasn't willing to play through the injury in Jacksonville. Upon being traded to the Rams, he has been off the injury report and has yet to miss a game for his new team. For Williams, the trade deadline has passed but this saga will be interesting to follow as the news comes out. As for now, he has yet to pass a physical or play in a game this year. There will be more to come so please continue to monitor site.
