49ers all-pro left tackle Trent Williams is inactive today for their season finale against the Rams with a lingering elbow injury, meaning San Francisco will be without both starting offensive tackles today.
His status is concerning for multiple reasons, as today is essentially a playoff game for San Francisco. Williams being unable to go today brings into question whether he will be available for the playoffs next week and beyond if the 49ers can clinch today.
The 33-year-old popped up on the injury report this week with an elbow injury, missing practice all 3 days. He suffered the sprain in the 4th quarter of last week's win over the Texans.
By video, last week's injury did not appear serious, which adds more concern to his absence.
Williams missed Week 7 with an elbow injury, but returned for Week 8. He also missed Week 17 of last season with an elbow sprain.
Williams was voted to his 9th pro bowl last month and is the highest-graded player in the NFL this season by PFF at 98.3.
Rookie Jaylon Moore will start at the blindside for Jimmy Garoppolo, who is set to start despite dealing with a torn UCL and fracture in his right thumb. Moore started at left tackle in Week 7, and replaced Mike McGlinchey at right tackle in Week 10 and 11 after McGlinchey suffered a season-ending quad injury.
