Trey Lance, the 49ers rookie quarterback, reportedly suffered a left knee sprain in the Week 5 loss to the Cardinals. On Monday, head coach Kyle Shanahan said it would be a one- or two-week injury at worst. Lance played every snap of the game against Arizona and said he didn't feel the injury until he went to bed Sunday night. We don't know the extent of the injury and did not see when he got injured during the game. This is why the Monday morning injury check is so important. A lot of things do indeed show up overnight and adrenaline is a powerful tool. Lance rushed 16 times for 89 yards in the loss. Elijah Mitchell and Trey Sermon combined for 10 carries.
Jimmy Garoppolo was inactive Week 5 after suffering a calf contusion Week 4. We have confidence Garoppolo will be ready to play Week 7, after the team's Week 6 bye. It remains to be seen if Lance will be healthy enough to play Week 7.
