Twins Injury Report: Sonny Gray Returning From Hamstring Injury Saturday vs Athletics

Twins' veteran right-hander Sonny Gray will start on Saturday against the struggling A's.

Sonny Gray Injury Update

Gray suffered a left hamstring strain during his follow-through on April 16 and was placed on the 10-day IL.

The 32-year-old – who was drafted by the A's in 2011 and spent four-and-a-half seasons as their ace – was originally expected to make a final rehab start in AAA on Saturday but was activated late this afternoon.

In two starts, Gray is 0-1 with a 5.68 ERA, five strikeouts, and a .208 batting average allowed over 6.1 IP.

Gray will face a middling Oakland offense that is 22nd in MLB in runs and home runs, 26th in total bases, and 29th in OPS.

The A's, 10-16, have lost seven games in a row and have scored over three runs only twice in their last 12 contests.
