Los Angeles Rams tight end Tyler Higbee will begin the 2024 season on the physically unable-to-perform (PUP) list. Higbee sustained a torn ACL and MCL during the Rams' playoff loss to the Detroit Lions.
Head Coach Sean McVay addressed the situation, stating, “He’s meant so much to our team, but you know he’s gonna be a PUP guy for sure. Don’t know exactly when to expect him back.”
Pro Football Doc concurs with McVay’s assessment, indicating that Higbee will not be ready for the start of the season. We at Sports Injury Central project Higbee to return for the second half of the season, given the complexity of his multi-ligament injury and the extended recovery period required.
The absence of Higbee is expected to impact the Rams' offensive strategy. Backup tight ends Colby Parkinson and Davis Allen are not anticipated to become significant fantasy targets. Historically, McVay’s offense has primarily targeted their wide receivers, Higbee’s absence will increase the target share for both Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua.
