The Chiefs wide receivers unusual posterior sternoclavicular (SC joint) dislocation presents unique decision making challenges for Chiefs and the medical staff. Clearly Hill is physically able to play and the team wants him to play but he needs medical clearance. A report came that there would be additional tests today. This case is different from Sam Darnold because Darnold's ultrasound needed to show if his spleen was still enlarged. In Hill's case, there is no easy exam to test the stability of the SC joint as you don't want to stress the joint as it could delay recovery. By traditional thinking, this injury requires a six week recovery timeline which has been postulated here all along. We are now at week at Week 5. The Chiefs medical staff knows Sammy Watkins is unlikely to play which increases the need for Hill to return. If there is only minimal risk and Hill agrees, it is possible for him to suit up this week. One should look at injury video to see how routine the tackle was that he was injured on. This is why the decision is important coming from the Chiefs medical staff and I'm sure they'll make the right decision.
