From the start, we indicated that the Chiefs star wide receiver sternoclavicular dislocation injury was unusual and could not be compared to other SC joint injuries. Hill's clavicle dislocated towards the back of his chest putting vessels at risk which is why it necessitated a hospital visit and procedure (not surgery) to reduce the joint. Because of the joint instability, I always felt that his recovery would be on the far end of the four to six week timeline. Now four weeks into injury, he is unlikely to play the next two weeks as he is undergoing further imaging studies as reported by Adam Schefter. At this point, I believe the most likely return date is Week 8 versus Green Bay. He could return Week 7 but that is a short week Thursday game versus the Broncos which would limit his recovery time. The reason for the delay is not because he couldn't run routes or catch passes, which he has demonstrated pre-game, but because the Chiefs medical staff have to make sure he can take a hit and not risk dislocation of the SC joint which could put the major vessels in his sternum/chest at risk.
