The wide receiver signed a significant one year deal with the Lions at $6 million this offseason. His 2020 season was cut short with the Raiders after he elected to have shoulder labrum surgery. We reported that other wide receivers have tried to play through with a harness but this is certainly suboptimal in terms of catch radius and performance. It seems like Williams decision to have surgery and not finish the season has paid off. He has a healthy one year deal with the Detroit and this is an early sign he is now healthy coming off shoulder surgery. If he waited till the end of the season, the marketplace would likely not have been as robust for Williams. In this case, the decision for early surgery seems to have paid off for him, especially in a tight salary cap season.
