Tyrell Williams, the Raiders wide receiver, elected for shoulder surgery for a labral repair and missed most of the season. Sometimes players choose to try and play through with the harness but Williams elected to have surgery. This happen possibly because of the extent of the tear, or possibly to get ahead of free agency as there are now reports that he's being released by the Raiders. He was smart to do the surgery ahead of time because he will now be healthy for this free agency window. Given the timing of his surgery, he should be healthy and be able to pass any physical during free agency. If he waited until the end of the season, teams would have to project the health on his shoulder and this would muddled his chances of getting the right contract. Williams, at the age of 28, will have a reasonable marketplace especially given the early recovery from his surgery.
