Vita Vea Activated Off Injured Reserve, Could Play Limited Role

Vita Vea was activated to the Buccaneers roster, making him eligible to play on Sunday. He had an ankle fracture dislocation followed by surgery in October, and he has made a speedy recovery. His practice window was just opened up this week and clearly he is in a position to play but there is no way his ankle will be 100%. It would be unusual for an ankle injury of this magnitude to return this early and especially after only one week of practice. Typically, it would take two or more to return to reasonable form. At this point, it is possible that he could be activated this weekend, but would not expect him to start, or have his usual number of snaps or big impact on the D line. Expect Steve McLendon to still get the majority of snaps and even if he is activated, but certainly this is a great sign if the Bucs can prevail Vea will be available and productive for the Super Bowl.
