Von Miller, the Broncos strong side linebacker, left the game just before halftime with a knee injury. By video, Miller took a friendly fire from his teammate with just under one minute left in the half. He was hit on the outside of the left knee, with his foot planted and took a valgus inward force. He stay down for a while and limped off the field.
Based on video of the hit, we have significant worry for an MCL sprain. Given the position he plays, and the injury to the left knee, it will be very difficult for him to return to play this game. Miller was the only remaining healthy starting linebacker coming into the game, with Bradley Chubb, Josey Jewell and Alexander Johnson on IR.
Update
Miller has been ruled out with an ankle injury. Given, the nature of the injury it is likely a combo high ankle sprain/MCL sprain. This will be a multi-week absence for the veteran linebacker and an IR stint is a distinct possibility. However, we think it is unrelated to the peroneal tendon dislocation injury he suffered in the same ankle last season.
