An MRI of Gary Payton II's left elbow confirmed the Warriors' guard suffered a fracture with ligament damage, according to reports from multiple NBA insiders.
Golden State has projected a three-to-five week timeline for Payton's recovery which puts him out through the West Finals or further.
The ProBasketballDocs anticipate a four-to-six week recovery timetable for the 28-year-old, putting him on the latter end of the reported non-surgical timeline.
An accelerated return after three weeks is optimistic at best.
The guard is expected to miss one month, according to Adrian Wojnarowski and Kendra Andrews of ESPN, plus Shams Charania and Anthony Slater of The Athletic.
The team has yet to rule out what would be a return in the NBA Finals, which begin on June 2, if the Warriors were to advance that far.
Bulls' guard Alex Caruso suffered a similar injury earlier this season. Caruso broke his wrist on a flagrant 2 foul by Grayson Allen while he was in the air and was unable to catch himself before landing on his wright forearm.
Caruso missed seven weeks, suffering the injury on January 21 and returning March 12, but he underwent surgery to repair the fracture.
