Did Evan Mobley Do Enough in Final 2 Games To Still Win Rookie Of The Year?

Evan Mobley was a force in his final two games, showing no ill-effects from the March 28 ankle sprain and helping the Cavaliers to an important win on Sunday.

Mobley, 20, had missed the previous 5 games after the classic right ankle inversion sprain before scoring 17 points with 7 rebounds in 34 minutes against the Nets on Friday. Cleveland sealed up the No. 8 seed on Sunday and will play Brooklyn again at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday.

The versatile 7-footer was strong again in 23 minutes on Sunday, notching an 18-point double-double with 4 blocks on 13 shots against the Bucks, who were sitting most of their roster in preparation for the playoffs.

He remains the team's starting center as it awaits the impending return of Jarrett Allen from a fractured left ring finger.

Mobley's late-season injury gave Toronto swingman Scottie Barnes a window to potentially steal the Rookie of The Year award that Mobley seemed to have sealed up. At the time of the injury, Mobley was a -330 favorite and Barnes was +280, but as the season ends, Mobley has dipped down to -250 with Barnes at +175, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

Barnes posted averages of 17.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.2 steals on 51.9% shooting over his last 22 games heading into Sunday's finale, notching 7 double-doubles and helping the Raptors to a 16-6 record and the No. 5 seed.
