The 49ers center missed all of the 2020 season due to a late 2019 torn patellar tendon. There are now reports of Richburg undergoing a recent hip surgery. It seems a foregone conclusion that he will be released by the 49ers and hit free agency. Given the potential six months recovery from hip surgery, Richburg is likely to miss the upcoming free agent signing period, and destined to be a late acquisition at best. The recent hip surgery offers significant obstacles including having him signed and ready to go for 2021.
