Two days into the 2022 season and the Central Division favorite White Sox have already lost 2 key players to soft tissue injuries.
The same day that Chicago announced starter Lucas Giolito would miss at least the next 2 starts with an abdominal strain, left-fielder A.J. Pollock left Saturday's win over the Tigers in the 3rd inning with an apparent hamstring strain.
Pollock, who the White Sox acquired from the Dodgers on April 1 in exchange for reliever Craig Kimbrel, winced and pulled up after coming out of the box hard on a single. Chicago is awaiting test results to determine the severity of the tightness, but has listed the 34-year-old righty as day-to-day.
Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts suffered from a similar ailment Friday, leaving the contest in the 10th inning with hamstring tightness after sprinting to 1st base, but was able to return to the lineup on Saturday.
The White Sox are already without Yoan Moncada, Yermin Mercedes, Lance Lynn, Garrett Crochet, and Joe Kelly with various injuries they picked up in the lead-up to the season.
