Eloy Jimenez Carted Off With Right Hamstring Injury, Likely Headed To IL

The injury bug continues to bite the White Sox, today getting outfielder Eloy Jimenez in the second inning.

Jimenez appeared to suffer a right hamstring injury while attempting to beat out a throw to first. He pulled up after extending on his last stride with his left leg and tripped after landing on his right.

Jimenez stayed down for several minutes while grimacing and grabbing at the back of his upper right leg and was carted off the field.

The team reported that he exited the game with right hamstring soreness. Jimenez is expected to head to the 10-day IL but could be out longer, according to our ProBaseballDocs, and will likely play as the DH upon return before heading back to the field.

For reference, Jimenez's teammate AJ Pollock suffering a hamstring injury on April 9 and returned to the lineup and field today.

DH Gavin Sheets replaced Jimenez in the order and is playing in right field, with Andrew Vaughn moving over to left against the Twins.

The 25-year-old left fielder missed one game after suffering a left ankle bruise on April 13. He's hitting .222 this season with one home run and a team-leading seven RBI.

Chicago has already seen key players Lucas Giolito, Lance Lynn, Pollock, Josh Harrison, and Luis Robert miss time with injuries and are in the midst of a five-game losing streak.
