Los Angeles Lakers star forward Anthony Davis was ruled out of Game 5 after taking an apparent elbow to the side of his head from Kevon Looney.
Davis was reportedly taken to the locker room in a wheelchair, but the Pro Basketball Docs are confident he will play in Game 6 on Friday.
Concussions are difficult to judge by video, but the blow to Davis’ head was much tamer than when Draymond Green hit the back of his head on the floor in Game 4.
Davis went to the bench, then stood up and went to the locker room after appearing woozy on the bench.
After the game, head coach Darvin Ham told reporters that Davis was in the locker room and “seems to be doing really good already.”
Davis carries a SIC score of 88 for Game 6, indicating that he should play without limitations in Friday’s contest.
The 30-year-old forward had 23 points and 9 rebounds on 10-18 shooting before exiting Game 5.
Davis is averaging 21.5 points, 13.5 rebounds and 3.4 blocks in 11 games this postseason.
If Davis is diagnosed with a concussion, he would likely miss Game 6 and would have to clear the NBA’s concussion protocol by Sunday in time for a potential Game 7.
Los Angeles is +500 to win the NBA Finals, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
Leading 3-2, the Lakers are -196 to win the series and are favored by 1 point at home in Game 6.
