Antonio Brown took to Instagram Monday to air another grievance regarding his time with the Buccaneers.
However, the MRI Brown posted does not support his claim that the Buccaneers were intentionally forcing him to play through an injury that would hurt him further, said Dr. David Chao, ProFootballDoc.
The MRI, taken on Oct. 25, shows a significant bone spur that will likely require surgery, Chao said.
Many players have played through bone spurs, including Cowboys left tackle Tyron Smith last season, Chao said, adding that playing with bone spurs typically does not cause further damage to the ankle.
Bone spurs are also chronic and do not just appear out of thin air, Chao said. That means Brown likely had the bone spurs in his ankle when he won the Super Bowl with Tampa Bay the year prior.
The MRI was done to assess an ankle sprain he suffered in the Week 6 game with the Eagles and the picture was taken a day after he missed the Week 7 matchup. Week 7 was the first of 8 games Brown missed.
The 33-year-old returned Week 16 with 15 targets for 10 catches and 100 yards against the Panthers. His infamous, shirtless exit came during the Week 17 game against the Jets. He had 5 targets in first half before exiting.
